What Do Box Gutters Do?
Box gutters are gutters that collect water from a large roof area or from an area where two roofs join. The water the guttering collects is then fed into downpipes and into an overflow device to ensure the water will not flood the roof cavity. Once the guttering has collected water, it will be emitted through either box gutter sumps or rain heads and then moved by the downpipe into a stormwater drainage system.
All box gutter designs are custom made and based on the volume of water that is expected to be collected from the catchment area. They must be sized correctly for each different application and comply with Australian Standards. Box gutters can be built from a range of metal materials, including Colorbond, Ace Gutters, Blue Scope and BHP Lysaght.
